When your Visual database is upgraded, the old spheres will not work because the old Visual version uses an entity ID and the new version uses a company ID. This need to be fixed in your SQL server, and the spheres will then work in Synoptix. Please consult with your database admin on fixing these views. Your name field conventions are dictated internally, so there are no set rules as to what table and ID to look for to make these adjustments. We recommend using name fields by the same thing they are called in Visual.
Any changes you make to a SQL view will automatically be reflected in the Synoptix custom sphere; you do not need to do anything unless you fundamentally change what the view does. If you change it that much you may need to review any reports that use the sphere to ensure they still give the needed information.

Please note:
You should first change the company under Connection Setup. The host package will reflect the version of Visual that you are on. Any versions of Visual beyond 7 should have the "7.1" in the host package title. Modifying these connections to change the host package may not work, we recommend fully deleting and re-adding this connection. Please select "modify" first and take any necessary screenshots to remember the connection credentials before deleting and re-adding.

When you re-add the connection, it must have the exact same name as the original connection you are deleting. Reports are associated with that company connection by name, so if you give it a different name, you will not have access to those reports.
We recommend backing up your CompuSoft database prior to making any changes to the Connection Setup.


In order to access the Connection Setup to adjust host packages, you must be a Synoptix administrator. From the control panel, navigate to Admin Setup > Connection Setup.
If the host package you need is not appearing, you may need to reach out to your Visual contact to get access to a special package.
