Is Synoptix a client-server application?

Yes, there is a small server installation which houses report templates and security. Synoptix has a direct connection to the database, so only report templates are saved and no actual data has to be stored on your server. Because Synoptix reports run with incredible speed, the hassles of data warehousing are a thing of the past.

Synoptix is loaded on the client as well. Total installation time from start to finish generally takes no more than about 20 minutes. No services are required for installation and implementation. Synoptix will automatically be linked to the database tables and will intuitively know your calendar.

How is Synoptix Licensed?

Each Synoptix module ships with 5 con-current users. Companies can load Synoptix on as many work stations as they like, and will be limited to 5 people logged in at the same time. A user includes anyone logged into Synoptix, whether they’re creating reports or just running them for viewing purposes.

If you purchase two modules, you will have 10 con-current users that are available to anyone company-wide. Additional users can also be purchased. Talk to your Synoptix representative for pricing details.

How does Synoptix connect to the database?

In most cases, Synoptix uses JDBC drivers to connect to the database as they are inherently stable, secure, and technologically advanced (except where one isn’t available, in which case an ODBC connection is used).

Does Synoptix write back to the database?

No. Synoptix is a read-only product, so managers and IT personnel don’t have to worry about potential data corruption.

Given that Synoptix has a direct connection to the database, how long will it take to run reports?

Basic training is free of charge, and ships on CD. Consisting of several tutorial sessions ranging from beginning to advanced, you can be trained in just hours.

In addition, we offer advanced interactive training that will give you all the tools you need to take full advantage of Synoptix’ powerful functionality. This training is web based, so there are no associated travel costs. You get one-on-one training from a highly qualified member of our expert team who will walk you through the details of writing reports within Synoptix and answer any questions you may have along the way.

What does the maintenance fee cover?

Maintenance covers industry best technical support and software upgrades. Your upgrades will be delivered via the web and will automatically appear when you open Synoptix. It will list the new features in the upgrade along with any fixes. Simply accept the upgrade and it will install itself in the background. Like everything else in Synoptix, it’s that easy.

Is the dashboard functionality an additional cost?

No, full dashboard and scorecard functionality ships with every version of Synoptix.
